Dr. Mark D. Williams graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1988. At the graduation ceremony he received two special awards in addition to his D.M.D. degree. The International College of Dentists Award and the Operative Dentistry Award were both given as he was recognized by the faculty of the dental school. After graduation he and his wife, Gay, moved back to Meridian to start a dental practice in the office of Dr. John Berney. Dr. Berney retired six months later and the solo practice that began in July of 1988 has been a blessing beyond belief.
He is a member of many organizations and has served in positions of leadership in several of them. He has served as President of the Meridian Area Dental Society, Secretary/Treasurer and Board of Trustee member of the Third District of the Mississippi Dental Association. He is a member of the American Dental Association. He has served as the President of the Mississippi Academy of General Dentistry and has been awarded Fellowship status in 2006. He was awarded the Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2010. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American College of Dentists. He is a current member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American College of Dentists, and served as the 2016-2017 president of the Mississippi Dental Association.
He received his undergraduate B.S. degree from the University of Alabama with a major in Chemistry and minors in Biology and English.
He is an avid college football fan (Roll Tide!!), loves to golf, enjoys woodworking and spending time at the lake with family and friends.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Meridian where he is a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.
He and Gay have two sons and share a home with a dog and a cat.
